1. Shilpa Shetty-Kundra

She is a true Baazigar when it comes to flaunting her perfectly toned body. Shilpa Shetty is a Bollywood star who is a true fitness icon, which she attributes to Yoga. She is so dedicated to spreading the art of fitness to her followers and the public that she launched a DVD named as “Shilpa’s Yoga” in the year 2008.

Very few know that she took to yoga after chronic spondylitis and neck problem started to trouble her. The DVD has successfully packaged various asanas for body trimming and will benefit those who are obese and trying to get their body back in shape.

2.  Kareena Kapoor-Khan

Bebo is a big yoga fan, and makes it a point to do yoga for an hour and a half a day. Amongst her most favoured yoga poses are Surya Namaskaar and Ashtanga Yoga.

Said Kareena in an interview “I am completely into yoga. I think yoga has changed my life. My morning yoga practice that I do for an hour-and-a-half every day is something that keeps me going. The day I don’t do it, I feel that my day doesn’t go well and I haven’t completed a task that I had to do”.

3.  Kangana Ranaut

She is undoubtedly the Queen in Bollywood looking at the hits she is delivering. Kangana owes her body fitness to power yoga which she does on a daily basis. According to her “I do yoga regularly and eat a balanced diet.”

4.  Rani Mukherjee

We all know the popular Bengali actress, Rani, who is married to Aditya Chopra, the famous Bollywood filmmaker who churned out hits, and is now in the family way. Rani is also an avid yoga follower and is into weight training.

5.  Sonam Kapoor  

Sonam Kapoor has been a known face at the Cannes each year. She is the daughter of seasoned film star Anil Kapoor.  Films aside, she is a tremendous follower of Bikram Yoga which helps her look fab. Bikram Yoga was developed by Bikram Choudhury, a yoga guru who has put US copyright on his invention that has 26 asanas. Sonam once tweeted “Starting bikram yoga today or as everyone calls it hot yoga. It’s my dad’s secret for looking fab”.

6.  Lara Dutta

Lara has been practising the art of yoga for over 12 years. Just like Shilpa Shetty, Lara too has brought out a DVD on yoga titled ‘HEAL’ which caters to bringing about health and fitness in pregnant mothers. Lara is married to tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi,  Lara admits it was her yoga exercise schedule during her pregnancy which made her recover soon after childbirth.

7.  Padmasree Warrior

This woman holds an impressive position of power as technology and strategy officer at Cisco Systems. But what interests Padmasree more is her yoga and meditation schedules which she does on a daily basis. Padmasree has been candid enough in saying that meditation helps her reboot herself, her mind and her soul which helps her to carry out her responsibilities well.

8.  Virat Kohli

As a cricket captain, he is leading India to many victories. But wouldn’t you be interested in what keeps him occupied off field (other than his lady love Anushka Sharma)? It is none other than yoga.

The Indian team director Ravi Shastri and vice-captain Virat Kohli did yoga before playing the game. “The two months in Australia were draining mentally. We needed some time off and this has been brilliant for the boys, it will sharpen them up – mentally even more than physically” said Ravi Shastri.     

9.  Madonna   

This American singer is an all-time hit in music compositions and singing, but what has made the queen of pop Madonna achieve popularity is her practising of Yoga as a form of lifestyle.

Ashtanga Yoga and Hatha Yoga happen to be her favourites. Madonna considers yoga as a technique that keeps her soul and mind at peace. According to her, “Yoga is a metaphor for life. You have to take it really slowly. You can’t rush… It is a workout for your mind, your body and your soul.”

10. Lady Gaga

She has performed and shocked you in her transparent body suits and skimpier outfits. But Lady Gaga is a frequent visitor at a health studio that teaches Bikram yoga in the city of New York.

Such has been her state of drawing attention that she shows up for the yoga classes in lacy undergarments. In February 2013, Lady Gaga went for hip surgery and was restricted to a wheelchair for several months but that did not deter her from joining yoga classes.

11.  Jennifer Aniston

She has been a devoted fan of yoga for many years now. Jennifer Aniston gives full credit to her instructor-cum-friend Mandy Ingber who has been helping her out in her body toning and fitness regimen.

It was in the year 2013 that Ingber went ahead and published a book on Jennifer’s trademark workout, “Yogalosophy: 28 Days to the Ultimate Mind-Body Makeover.”

Aniston says it is Ingber’s fitness program, which is a combination of traditional yoga and fat-burning cardio as well as toning exercises that got her back in shape for few lingerie scenes in the film “We’re the Millers.”

Jennifer advocates the fact that yoga was a major influence in saying goodbye to smoking.

His voice and looks have made millions of girls go mad after him. But for Ricky Martin, it’s his yoga practice that makes him relax and bring inner peace. Hath yoga is one of his favourite yoga poses. Ricky is of the opinion that yoga has given him stability in heart, body and mind.

The popular British comedian Russell overcame his drug addiction after turning to yoga. He is a regular at yoga classes held in Los Angeles. Russell has taken up courses in yoga teacher training and plans to open a studio of his own.

16.  Russell Simmons    

Co-founder of a hip hop music label and the master creator of a clothing label R. Simmons practises yoga religiously, particularly Jivamukti Yoga. The best thing about this yoga technique is that it encourages vegetarianism.
