Cerebral Atrophy is a degenerative condition where there is wasting or shrinkage of the brain. There is good Cerebral Atrophy treatment in Ayurveda, but first, let’s understand this in detail.
Causes of Cerebral Atrophy
Cerebral Atrophy can be caused by several reasons, such as:
- Any trauma or injury to the brain.
- Neurological disorders like paralysis or stroke, Cerebral paralysis, Alzheimer’s, Epilepsy.
- Infectious diseases encephalitis.
Symptoms of Cerebral Atrophy
- Seizures or convulsions.
- Memory impairment.
- Difficulty in speaking.
- Impaired understanding and body movements.
Cerebral Atrophy treatment in Ayurveda
According to Ayurveda, cerebral atrophy is caused due to disruption in the vata dosha, which controls the motor and sensory activities in the body.
The line of treatment is to bring back the motor and sensory functions of the brain. The internal medicines boost the blood supply. Natural anti-oxidants increase the oxygen supply to the brain and reduces cell death. The external therapies and panchakarma treatments like vasti, abhyanga, navara kizhi, shirodhara, thalapothichil enhance the functioning of peripheral nervous system, circulation, maintains the muscle tone and reduces muscle spasm.
Internal medicines like bala, Ashwagandha, Shankhpushpi churna, Dhanadanayanadi Kashayam, Maharasnadi Kashayam, Saraswatarishta, Ashwagandharishta, etc., are also found to be effective. These are the general line of management. The treatments may vary depending on the root cause and each individual.
