According to Ayurveda, cerebral atrophy is caused due to disruption in the vata dosha, which controls the motor and sensory activities in the body.

The line of treatment is to bring back the motor and sensory functions of the brain. The internal medicines boost the blood supply. Natural anti-oxidants increase the oxygen supply to the brain and reduces cell death. The external therapies and panchakarma treatments like vasti, abhyanga, navara kizhi, shirodhara, thalapothichil enhance the functioning of peripheral nervous system, circulation, maintains the muscle tone and reduces muscle spasm.

Medicines like Maha masha taila, Dhanwantaram tailam, Balaswagandhadi tailam, Ksheerabala taila, Brahmi taila etc., would be beneficial for massage.

Internal medicines like bala, Ashwagandha, Shankhpushpi churna, Dhanadanayanadi Kashayam, Maharasnadi Kashayam, Saraswatarishta, Ashwagandharishta, etc., are also found to be effective. I have been affected by Brain disorders such as small vessel disease and Brain Shrinkage. I have been taking Alopathy medicines right from March 2017. Now I am taking Palsinuron, Medhaya Rasayana and Navahridaya Kalpa for the past 2 months. I want to know whether both the English as well as Ayurvedic medicines can be taken on a single day. Will it affect my health. So far there is no adverse effect. I also want to know whether my above brain disorders will clear. Kindly give advice. Venkatesan

    Hi,

I want Ayurveda consultation for my mother age 50. She is diagnosed as diffused brain cerebral atrophy.
    Let me explain the history.

She is a patient of epilepsy with brain infection(maningitis/encephalitis) since 2012. She got epilepsy episodes following with brain infection and 2 3 weeks unconciousness in 2012,2014,2015,2018 respectively. In 2016, she was diagnosed with Brain Atrophy and calcification and difficulty in walking, dementia and some other disorders and got bed ridden. Over the time, her memory and body movement improved but not able to walk. Now 2 weeks back she got another episode of epilepsy following with brain infection(Maningitis/Manigioencephalitis) and again she got dementia and movement disorders.

I need your consultation in this matter. Can she gain ability to walk and get her memory back.

I’m from Lahore Pakistan, we can have Skype/phone call if you are interested.
