The 8-Step Roadmap & Ayurvedic Medicine For Weight Loss

Ayurvedic Medicine for Weight Loss
Hey ! I am not only going to tell you the ultimate Ayurvedic Medicine for Weight Loss, but I am going to give you a comfortable ROAD MAP for Effective Weight Loss.

Yeah I know. You are trying to lose weight. Big Time. But you’ve run out of options.
You have probably already tried those diets, sugar-free granola bars, protein bars, shiny slippery dumbbells, Zumba, Cardio, Walking, Swimming. Uff. Nothing seems to work.
And now, you are here, looking for the next magic formula. You are thinking, let me try Ayurveda. That next new thing which will promise you fat-burn within hours or days or weeks. Yeah ?
Oops ! Sorry, There’s nothing new here. No Diets. No new exercises. No new fat-melters. But if you read through carefully, you will gain a completely new perspective about effective, slow but gradual and long term weight loss.
To lose weight, you don’t need to go on a fad diet, nor do hours of endless cardio each day.

What you need, quite simply, is a caloric deficit. Fat is composed of calories, so to get rid of the fat, you need to get rid of the calories that compose fat.

First, we need to set some goals for a healthy weight loss regime :

  1. Fat Loss Outcome : I personally believe, fat loss of 2-3 kgs per month is enough, safe and comfortable. So if you wish to lose 12 kgs, you should aim at spreading your fat loss efforts over 6 months if not more. Set a realistic target. Moreover, your weight loss regime should be designed in such a way that it becomes a part of your life. Most of the people fail here, when they try to adopt a new plan only for the duration of their weight loss i.e. if they achieve their weight loss target in 6 months, they go back to their old dietary habits and old routine. This makes them gain it back whatever they had lost. The correct way to do this, is to adopt a healthy lifestyle, and make it permanent. You are altering your lifestyle and adopting to a new one.
  2. Your Daily Calorie Goal : A simple formula is, Body weight in Kilograms x 30 – 500 = calories per day. For example, if your body weight is 90 kgs, your calorie intake should be { 90 X 30 – 500 = 2200 calories per day}.
  3. Your Daily Steps Goal (Cardio / Aerobic Type) : Do you know that you burn 1 calorie for every 20 steps you take. You should burn about 20% of calories of your total intake. Example : Let’s say if your calorie intake is 2200 calories per day, you should aim at burning 20% of 2200 which is 440 calories. To burn 440 calories, you should walk around 8800 steps per day. You can use a Health App on your phone to track that. If you prefer some other form of cardio activity, substitute your walking with running, swimming, cycling etc.

Your Daily Exercise Goal (Anaerobic) : 30 Minutes

Anaerobic Exercise is a fast-paced, intense and usually brief routine which does not require oxygen. Instead, it uses glycogen, a form of carbohydrate for fuel, rather than fat. Such exercises produce lactic acid which causes the burning sensation you feel in your muscles when you do an intense workout such as Angamardhana Yoga. Anaerobic workouts or High Intensity Interval workouts are a great way to lose weight, because they use a lot of energy, and also result in calorie burn throughout the day.
Yoga is an important part of your Ayurvedic lifestyle. Yoga means Union, and it offers you a very effective way to supplement your weight loss efforts by adding the Anaerobic exercises using your own body weight. You don’t need to go to a gym or buy any equipment, if you learn how to effectively use your own body weight with correct breathing techniques. I suggest that you should learn Angamardhana Yoga by a qualified Yoga Therapist. To learn Angamardhana at home, you can find an instructor here.

I feel you should do 30 minutes of Anaerobics or Yoga every day.

So now, we have 4 goals to work upon. This gives us immense clarity about our target.
  1. Lose 2 kgs per month
  2. Eat {(Body weight in Kilograms x 30) – 500} per day
  3. Walk 20 X {20% of Daily Calorie Intake} per day
  4. Do 30 minutes of Yoga every day

Has it begun to sound simple ? Yeah. Great.

Now, I present my Simple 8-step Ayurvedic Formula to the Ultimate Weight Loss Routine, which can become a part of your life, if you religiously do it and follow it for 42 days.

8-step Ayurvedic Formula for Ultimate Weight Loss

Step 1 : Avoid Constipation. You can do this by following ANY 1-2 of the following :
  1. drinking a glass of lukewarm lemon water + honey, first thing in the morning
  2. taking 20 grams of soluble fibre every day (through fruits, leafy vegetables, Psyllium husk)
  3. By taking 2-3 soaked figs, 5-7 deskinned almonds every day
  4. By drinking around 12-15 glasses of water throughout the day
  5. Taking 1 tbsp of Triphala Rasayana with a glass of lukewarm water.

Step 2 : Take your Daily Dose of Probiotics. That’s easy. Just drink 1 bottle of YAKULT Probiotic Drink everyday. Probiotics help you maintain a healthy level of digestion.

Step 3 : Drink Enough Water : It is recommended to take 200 ml of water every 30 minutes. This will enable you to take around 3 litres of water in 7.5 hours.

Step 4: Avoid Acidity, Gas and Bloating. This is easily managed if you :
  1. Do not skip meals. Divide your 3 big meals into 6 small meals or eat a snack after every 150 minutes.
  2. Chew a small piece of Ginger after every meal
  3. Drink a glass of Buttermilk (Chachh) after your lunch.
  4. Avoid lentils, or gas forming foods in your dinner.

Step 5 : Know and Understand your Dosha and take a diet which is suitable to regulate, and balance your Dosha. You can calculate your Ayurvedic Prakruthi or Dosha using this calculator
After you find your Dosha, you can choose a diet based on your Dosha. Choose from Vata Diet, Pitta Diet and Kapha Diet.

Step 6 : Pratice Deep breathing and do Yoga for 30 minutes a day. For Deep Breathing, I would highly recommend the Anulom Vilom Pranayama and the Kapal Bhati Pranayama. For your Yoga practices, try and find a yoga teacher, who can help you learn Angmardhana.

Step 7 : Take a balanced meal. Choose 50% Good Carbs, 30% Healthy Proteins and 20% healthy, unsaturated Fats in your diet. If you follow this formula on your plate, your diet would automatically fall in place.

Step 8 : Add an assistant to your weight loss efforts. You ask how? Catalyse your efforts by adding an all-natural Ayurvedic Supplement, which can boost the effect of your work by 25%.

I would recommend Curoslim. You may ask Why ?

Guggulu (Commiphora mukul)
  • Medohara-guggul, two tablets twice a day after meals is recommended by Ayurveda as a standard treatment of obesity.
  • In a study the pharmacological effects of mukul were compared with clofibrate. Ether extract of C. mukul (1.5 gms/day) was given to 41 patients. On the other hand clofibrate (92 gms/day) was prescribed to 10 patients. It was concluded that both the drugs were equally effective in controlling serum cholesterol and triglycerides. Incidence of reported side-effects was less with C. mukul group.
  • Fifty patients with a history of coronary artery disease, hyperlipidemia and obesity were treated with daily dose of 10-15 rams of mukul for three months. After completion of the study, 25 per cent reduction in serum cholesterol and 30 per cent reduction in serum triglyceride were observed.
  • A standardisation extract of mukul is based on 2.5 per cent of guggulsterones E and Z is efficacious in the treatment of obesity.

Shilajit (Asphaltum punjabianum/Mineral Pitch)
  • Shilajit is obtained as exudates from steep rocks. These exudates contain 50 % pure shilajit and rests are impurities.
  • Shilajit when administered internally keeping in mind, disease, dose, vehicle and contraindications can cure all diseases.
  • Purified shilajit is used in the treatment of diabetes, fevers, anaemia, loss of appetite, colic, obesity, abdominal diseases, spleen diseases, angina pectoris and skin diseases.
  • In the present study, 66 patients of obesity were treated with Shilajatu processed with Agnimantha. After completion of therapy, 5.09 ± 0.24 kg and 2.06 ± 0.10 kg/m (2) reduction of body weight and body mass index respectively were noted. The result was found to be statistically highly significant (P<0.001).
