Go slow on meats, fish, eggs and poultry which are likely to increase the amount of acid in urine.
Foods high in magnesium prevent calcium from combining with oxalates and thus prevent stones from forming. Some foods like avocados, bananas, green leafy vegetables and pumpkin skins are very beneficial.
Whole wheat bread and vegetable proteins like legumes, pulses and sprouted grains are a good alternative source of proteins, nutrients and fibres. They reduce the risk of forming kidney stones.
No crash diets! Dieting is believed to increase uric acid in the bloodstream and thus increases the risk of kidney stones. A healthy balanced diet is the best way to stay healthy and prevent kidney stones.
