The General Motors diet or the GM diet has been named after one of the most prominent companies in the unites States. This diet program is said to have been designed for the employees of General Motors. However, General Motors has never really officially announced any connection with this diet plan. General Motors diet has gained a lot of popularity in the recent years, and whether the company has any association with it or not, the diet will be called General Motors diet for a long time.
The General Motors diet plan follows a strict nutrition based plan for a week. Every day one is allowed only specific food items. This diet has lot of restrictions but one may find it helpful in losing weight fast. This weight loss if short term or long term is not yet known. It is still unclear how this diet came into existence, hence one cannot question why the specific food choices are allocated for specific days.
The General Motors Diet Plan in Brief:
Day 1: on the first day of the General Motors Diet, you can have as many fruits as you like except bananas. It has been recommended that one should have lot of melons on the first day. Having lot of watermelon is extremely good. It is said that by having only melons on the first day you can lose upto three lbs at the very start of this diet. Don’t restrict the quantity have as much as possible.
Day 2: Day two of General Motors Diet is a vegetable day. You can have either raw, boiled, cooked (without oil) vegetables. There is no restriction on the quantity or the choice of vegetable. At the start of the day have one large baked or boiled potato to meet the carbohydrate need. Have lots of water to keep your body hydrated.
Day 3: Today you can have fruits as well as vegetables for your General Motors diet. No restriction on quantity or the choice of fruit or vegetable. Bananas and Potato are not allowed.
Day 4: Today is a milk and banana day. The General Motors diet plan for fourth day is restricted to eight bananas and three glasses of milk. Have skimmed milk if possible. Also, try to avoid sugar in milk.
Day 5: Today you have to eat beef and tomatoes for your General Motors diet. Have two 10 oz of lean beef portions along with six tomatoes. Have more water today to clear your body of the uric acid. If you are vegetarian that you can substitute beef with cottage cheese (paneer).
Day 6: General Motors diet consists of beef and vegetable only for this day. Today you are allowed to have as much as beef and vegetables as you like. Again, beef may be substituted with cottage cheese or paneer.
Day 7: Today you can have brown rice, fruit juices and vegetables to your heart’s content.
Note: Do not drink any alcohol and have at least ten glasses of water. You can have two cups of black coffee or tea without sugar.
The General Motors diet has both good points and negative points. Before starting this diet you must be aware of the both.
