As per the U.S. Department of Agriculture, half cup of tomato juice provides 35% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin A and about 10% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C. Apart from this, the tomato juice as a beverage also has ample amount of B vitamins, potassium as well as fiber.

Yet another US study done in 2013 at the Tufts University in Boston revealed an interesting finding on tomatoes. Lycopene, a powerful antioxidant found in tomatoes could reduce the risk of heart disease by almost a quarter. It’s the lycopene that gives the red colour to the tomato.

Interestingly, the processing of tomatoes increases lycopene levels in a tomato by up to four times. One can safely deduce that a glass of tomato juice is richer in lycopene as compared to a raw tomato.
