Some are inherited from their genetic pools and some are caused by hormonal ups and downs. Here is a list of medical problems in men that you may check out:
Erectile dysfunction or ED is a sexual problem in men. It is also known as impotence. It happens when a man is either not able to achieve an erection during sexual intercourse or even if he does have an erection, it is not sustained ling enough to have sex.
For an erection, the penis needs a good flow of blood. When this does not happen, ED occurs. It may be caused due to a number of reasons. Obesity, high level of LDL cholesterol, smoking or heart disease may be the probable causes of ED.
Prostate is a reproductive gland in men. It produces the fluid that carries sperm during ejaculation in a sexual intercourse. Certain factors like age sometimes cause this gland to become enlarged.
The enlarged gland exerts pressure on the urethra and results in bladder and urinary problems.
Most men face this problem in old age.
It is one of the ejaculatory dysfunctions experienced commonly by one third of male population at some time in their lives. When ejaculation happens within two minutes of the start of sexual stimulation, it is known as premature ejaculation.
It is mostly experienced by men who are under 40. This condition occurs more commonly than erectile dysfunction in men.
If you find yourself suffering from any of the above stated conditions, don’t feel embarrassed about it. Consult a doctor and seek medical help to enjoy a healthy life.
- Male Pattern Baldness:
Male pattern baldness happens when the hairline starts receding and hair thinning happens at the crown in men. The main reasons for this condition are genetic inheritance and hormonal imbalance.
Socially embarrassing for men, the hairline starts receding to form a ‘M’ shape and eventually ends up in a ‘U’ shaped hairline.
Hypogonadism is also known as testosterone deficiency syndrome. It is a condition where due to low levels of male hormone testosterone the man is not able to perform sexually.
Apart from this, the person with testosterone deficiency suffers from loss of bone health, low energy levels, low mood and decrease in muscle power.
So, if you find yourself unable to have or maintain erections during sexual intercourse, consult a doctor. A morning blood test recommended by him will help you find out if your testosterone is at desired levels.
- Peyronie’s Disease:
Pyronie’s disease involves a condition where there is curving or narrowing of the penis. This condition can get painful and also prevent men from having sex. An earlier injury to the penis may cause a hard lump to form. This causes deformation of the penis, resulting in this painful condition. Surgery is one of the few options to correct this condition.
Gynecomastia means enlargement of chest in males. It happens due to too much growth of breast tissue behind or around nipples or excessive gland growth. Though it is a benign condition medically; it is an embarrassing condition for men who have it.
