When the pressure of the blood in the arteries gets elevated it is known as hypertension. The blood pressure increase can depend on a lot of factors like a person’s sex, age, mental and physical activities, diet and also family history. A healthy individual will have a blood pressure of 120 mm of Hg systolic and 80 mm of Hg diastolic.
The ayurvedic cure for high blood pressure or hypertension has a very deep and long term impact. This is because the ayurvedic treatment doesn’t control the symptoms, but treats the problem from the root cause.
The main cause of hypertension nowadays is a sedentary lifestyle and an unhealthy diet. The majority of the foods that we consume today are packed with chemicals and preservatives and thus they are bound to create digestive problems in the body. In this way, toxins will get accumulated in our body which will later cause hypertension. Blood containing toxins becomes heavy and sticky. It accumulates in the weaker channels and makes them narrower. Thus blood has to exert more pressure to circulate. This causes hypertension.
Stress, anxiety and various other negative mental feelings have been found to cause hypertension too. If there is a history of obesity, high blood pressure, consumption of unhealthy diet along with large amounts of tea or coffee, lack of exercise, etc. in the family can also be a cause.
The main symptoms associated with high blood pressure are:
- Neck pain, usually behind the neck
- Dizziness or vertigo
Ayurvedic hypertension treatment
Ayurveda treats hypertension by identifying the root cause of the problem and then administering herbs that will eradicate it. The problem is removed from its roots is the main aim of Ayurveda. For this, the first thing that needs to be done is improving the digestion. Next, all the toxins that got accumulated in the channels of the heart have to be eliminated. Finally, mind relaxation techniques need to be applied so that the mind remains calm and stable. There are some ayurvedic medicines for blood pressure too that can be administered if required.
